As hot coffee’s #1 hater, I was quite worried about how I was going to survive four months studying abroad in Florence, Italy. But I was quickly surprised with all of the delicious iced latte and alternative milk options throughout the historic and famous coffee city.

Ditta Artigianale Speciality Coffee
Ditta Artigianale began as a micro-roastery in 2013 and has now expanded to six locations throughout the city and even one in Milan. Each location has a different feel, but the one across the square from my apartment had an expansive outdoor garden. Whenever we had work to get done, we walked on over to Ditta and grabbed an insanely delicious iced salted caramel latte. All drinks can be made with their homemade vanilla syrup and the alternative milk of your choosing.

I found this spot walking to class one day and immediately was intrigued by their unique pastries. But for me, the star of the show is their iced vanilla shaken espresso. I Dolci di Patrizio Cosi prides themselves on authentic, carefully crafted pastries and coffee. I’m not lying when I tell you I shed tears as I left this place on my last day in Florence.
Coffee Mantra
Coffee Mantra is doing coffee differently. They only use high quality, speciality made beans that require great care, ideal climate, and have sustainability at heart. They often highlight specific roasts they are brewing on their Instagram page, where they explain the notes and where it is produced. Their little standing coffee bar is the perfect place to grab an iced drink but still feel like you are participating in the Italian way.
